What is SEO?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s unpaid results—often referred to as “natural”, “organic”, or “earned” results. The goal of search engine optimization is to ensure that a website or web page appears in a high position for a given set of search terms. This is accomplished by increasing the relevance or “importance” of a website or a web page to the topic of a search query so that when the search engine lists its results for that query, the website or web page appears ahead of (or beside) other websites or web pages that have been playing the search engine game for longer.

Although SEO may sound like a complex process, it can be done in a number of ways that will achieve results and a good ROI.

Search engine optimization is a continual battle.  We constantly update our site with new, well-written content.  We make sure our site adheres to all the latest SEO standards. SEO best practices change as Google updates their ranking algorithms, and as a result, what works today may not work tomorrow (literally). Google’s constantly updating its search algorithm, so creating a comprehensive SEO strategy is a lot like navigating an obstacle course, where you have to be ready to jump over one hurdle after another.

  1. Don’t reinvent the wheel. Take a look at what your competitors are doing. See what sort of content they are publishing, how many times they are posting, what their posts are about, and how many followers they have.
  2. Spend some time on Quora, Reddit, or another forum to see what questions people are asking about your topic. Answer those questions in a blog post
  3. Make sure your site has a good structure.
  4. Make sure your content is fresh
  5. Research your keywords


Gone are the days when search engine optimization (SEO) was only for business owners who wanted to attract customers and increase sales. SEO is now an essential skill for anyone who has an online presence. We’re not just talking website owners, either. Bloggers, social-media managers and everyone who puts something on the web should know basic SEO skills. The more you optimize your online presence, the more likely it is that you’ll be found by people who are looking for your products and services.
